In 2022 I had the privilege of leading an incredible sea kayaking expedition along the western end of the Lofoten Islands. For seven days, we carved our way through open Arctic waters, navigating strong currents and the raw, untamed beauty of the Norwegian coast. Each paddle stroke brought us closer to the dramatic landscapes that have inspired explorers for centuries — jagged peaks rising from the sea, quiet fjords, and the whispers of Viking history lingering in the villages we passed.
It wasn’t just the scenery that left us in awe. The expedition tested our resilience, teamwork, and spirit, reminding us that the wildest places often demand the most from us — and give back even more. From battling the open coast to savoring moments of serene calm beneath towering cliffs, every day was a lesson in patience, perseverance, and the sheer joy of being present in nature’s grandeur.
This journey wasn’t just about paddling; it was about connecting — to the sea, to history, and to each other. And as we returned to shore, tired but exhilarated, I felt an immense gratitude for the privilege of sharing this adventure, and for the reminder that some of the most transformative experiences happen when we push ourselves beyond the familiar.
